HOD/Maccabi FLF Fun Run at the Atlanta Kosher Barbecue Festival

Your HOD Lodges in Atlanta, the Atlanta Kosher Barbecue Festival and the Maccabi USA Future Leadership Forum are teaming up for a day of festivities at the Atlanta Kosher Barbecue, Sunday, Oct. 17 at Brook Run Park in Dunwoody.

Start the day with a jaunt – the 5K or 1K Maccabi USA Future Leadership Fun Run, supported by Atlanta’s HOD Lodges. Run or walk at your own pace with family and friends to work up an appetite for BBQ. You’ll get a shirt, a medal and tasting vouchers. Registration fees range from $18 for kids under 13 to $36 for adults and from $80 to $95 for families. Click on the Maccabi Fun Run link for more information and registration.

The Fun Run will really do your heart some good. You’ll get some exercise and help one of our community’s outstanding Jewish organizations. Our HOD share of the fun run proceeds will be donated the Greater Atlanta Jewish Abilities Alliance. The JAA is the Jewish community’s network that links individuals with disabilities, and their families, to resources, services, support groups, workshops and clinics and recreational programs within their community. If you don’t plan to run, we encourage you to donate to the Abilities Alliance as a tribute to HOD. If you do run, encourage family and friends to join you or donate as a tribute to HOD in your honor.

Last but not least – certainly not least – stick around to enjoy the AKBF!

Opening ceremonies begin at 11 a.m., and our 20 participating competition teams will begin turning in their chili, chicken, brisket and ribs starting at 11:30 – when you can start tasting their offerings. Tasting tickets are $1 apiece. The festival will feature food vendors, arts vendors, community organization booths, kids’ activities, music and an online silent auction – which is already underway.

Team competition winners will be announced starting at 3 p.m.
