Anne Frank in Sandy Springs
Anne Frank spent 761 days hiding in the secret annex of a house in Amsterdam during the Holocaust. The Anne Frank Exhibit in Sandy Springs has been packed away for maybe as long as the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust seeks to find a new home for it in Sandy Springs.

Where has the exhibit been, and where might it go? The Table Lodge speakers for our Feb. 21 OLM may have some clues. Join us to get the latest update on plans for the Anne Frank Exhibit from Sally Levine, Executive Director of the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust, and Gary Alexander, Vice Chairman of the Commission.

The Anne Frank Exhibit had been located in the Parkside Shopping Center, 5920 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs. But when the space became unavailable, the Commission began a search that continues today for a new home.

Sally Levine has served as Executive Director of the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust since 2013. She joined the Commission from the Breman Museum, where she served as the Specialist for Teacher and Curriculum Development.  She previously served as a Regional Educator for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC.

Gary Alexander is Managing Director – Investment Officer for the Alexander Investment Group of Wells Fargo Advisors in Atlanta. Active in numerous charitable and philanthropic organizations in Atlanta, was elected as Chairman of the Advisory Board in 2009. Also in 2009, he was nominated by the Mayor and City Council of Sandy Springs, GA, to head the Commission to bring The Anne Frank In The World exhibit to Sandy Springs.

Chuck Berk is a member of the Commission. He owns and is president of BCR Properties LLC. He previously owned R.S. Andrews of Tidewater, opened a national At-Home Services Division at Home Depot and was vice president of Sears Home Improvements. Berk is the chairman of Israel Bonds National Campaign Advisory Council.

The Georgia Commission on the Holocaust is a non-partisan, secular state agency, established in 1986. The Commission strives to preserve the memory of the Holocaust and promote public understanding of the history. Learning how and why the Holocaust happened is an important part of the education of Georgia citizens.

Their talk is open to the community, but only HOD brethren can attend the OLM. Guests should plan to arrive between 8:15 and 8:30 p.m. Registration is required to ensure we have enough food. The dress code is business casual.
